The Equipment Sharing Website is a resource that is accessible to all staff at the University of Cambridge (subject to having a Raven ID). It contains details of facilities and equipment records which might be available to share.

As well as including details of University of Cambridge facilities/equipment, it also displays selected records from other Institutions (Currently Oxford, Imperial, UCL and Southampton).

  • help researchers search for equipment and facilities available for sharing
  • encourage internal, national and international collaboration
  • support efficient use of equipment and facilities
  • highlight the University's commitment to equipment sharing, that can be incuded in future grant applications

The service is free to University staff.

Access is automatically granted to anyone with a Raven ID.

It is worth nothing that the listing of an item on the database does not indicate that it is currently available. The availability of the equipment/facilities will need to be discussed with the equipment owner or designated contact person. The item record will include the relevant contact details and also offer a general indication of the availability of the equipment/facilities. The values used include:

  • Unavailable
  • Very Low (less than 20%)
  • Low (20% to 40%)
  • Medium (40% to 60%)
  • High (60% to 80%)
  • Very High (80% +)
  • Fully Utilised (100%)

Entries for both sharing and leasing are instantaneous.
