The Raven for Webmasters service helps webmasters and web developers to integrate Raven authentication into web sites and web applications.

The service consists of the Raven service itself, documentation and best practice guides, technical resources  for interacting with the Raven service, and advice and consultancy delivered by our Raven support team.

Raven authentication offers several big advantages for webmasters:

  • provides a consistent and centrally-managed authentication experience to users of their University website
  • use the CRSids and UIS Passwords already familiar to University staff and students
  • identify users by CRSid that can be used to look up information about them and make access control decisions
  • access local support, consultancy and bespoke component development

How much does it cost? 

The basic service is free of charge to webmasters and web developers inside the University, and to external developers and contractors working on the University's behalf.

More extensive support, such as developing bespoke authentication interfaces, is chargeable.

How Do I Get This Service?

The service is provided on a self-serve basis, with online support and development resources available at the Raven project site and the Raven Wiki.

Straightforward support and consultancy questions are normally addressed within 1-2 working days.

More complicated issues will require longer to investigate and address.
