The UIS's Managed Firewall Service gives your network and networked devices the assurance of an additional level of security.  We offer two service models, for both versions we will clearly define areas of responsibility, which we will discuss with you in detail.

  • Fully managed service

The UIS delivers all of the day-to-day management of the firewall, which includes monitoring the firewall’s management interface and policy configuration, along with managing the hardware and network configuration.

 

  • Federated model

Local IT staff will have access to the firewall’s management interface and will manage day-to-day security functions, such as policy configuration. The UIS will maintain responsibility for managing the underlying hardware and network configuration.

How Do I Get This Service?

How do I get this service? 

The process will start with a design and planning phase, where our security engineers will consult with you to understand your security requirements and local IT infrastructure. Following this we will produce a design document, which will outline how we plan to implement the system and which you will sign off. When a solution has been agreed and purchased, the implementation phase will begin. This phase will vary according to the institution, but typically there is gradual migration of local infrastructure onto the new firewall, proceeding at a pace sensitive to local needs.

How quickly can I get this service? 

It’s difficult to say how long it will take to install as each installation will depend on the way in which the network is set up. When we meet with you to discuss your requirements we will cover this kind of information, once we have a greater understanding of how your system is set up, we will give you an estimate of how long it will take.

When is this service available? 

The firewall itself operates 24/7, with support available 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Networks and security staff provide your daily support 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), however you’re also backed up by a FortiCare support contract.
