The VPN service is a way of connecting individual devices to the University of Cambridge Data Network (CUDN) from a remote location. When connected, the device appears to be physically located on the CUDN.

When connected, the VPN service allows access to resources that normally require physical presence at the University, using a CUDN connected device. Examples of such resources include:

  • Finance Division access
  • departmental or College resources
  • some restricted access websites.

Free of charge to anyone with a valid CRSid.

How Do I Get This Service?

How do I get this service? 

The VPN can be accessed with the UIS Network Identifier and UIS Network Access Token, just like the eduroam wireless network. Identifier and tokens can be collected from the tokens website.

Because of the variety of network connections and ISPs, UIS cannot undertake to provide support in configuring or sorting out problems relating to remote network connectivity.
