EDMS is a digital document management system for the creation, storage and version control of texts and images. It also offers conversion from paper to digital format through an integrated scanning facility. It delivers a secure, robust and scalable store for documents or files. UIS offers the service to institutions within the University, including Colleges, as part of  its Management Information Division.

EDMS offers participating institutions easy access to documents, improved tracability, cost saving and enhanced security for all types of documents. Files can be:

  • accessed instanly for editing and sharing by authorized users as soon as they are scanned or created
  • tracked easily through several versions
  • made visible to document title and other metadata searches
  • stored at a fraction of the cost of physical copies
  • encrypted for confidentiality where needed
  • created with automated technical controls to ensure compliance with data regulations.

 At present the service is free of charge to University institutions and Colleges.

Prospective new EDMS customers should contact their Relationship Manager at the URL below in the first instance. This is because we are experiencing high volume of requests for this service currently and need to prioritise accordingly.

This is dependent on the complexity of the work involved. A work package will be produced as part of the initial analysis and scoping. This will provide a time estimate for your consideration.

Out of hours support is made available on a ‘best endeavours’ basis for ‘Tier 1’ systems only.
