Managed Mail Domains (MMD) for institutions are managed by designated, privileged staff within the individual institution. Antivirus and spam filtering is provided as part of the service.

  • provides a simple way for an institution to maintain a set of role aliases and 'friendly' email names for permanent staff
  • decreases the overhead of an institution having to run its own mail server
  • makes use of the central mail switch system (ppsw)
  • in most cases they are controlled by a menu interface on Hermes
  • can also be managed via an alias file fetched from a web server using https

To request the service please complete the form available via the Self-Service Portal. MMDs are available to institutions, sub-institutions and similar groups, such as established research groups and may also be used for groups and projects which span institutions.
