HPC Consultancy provides advice on the design and procurement of managed and unmanaged private HPC resources.

It offers integration and configuration of private HPC resources according to user requirements. These resources may be situated on the customer site to be managed by the customer, or sited with the central HPC clusters (possibly but not necessarily directly connected to these facilities) and managed by University Information Services (UIS).

Clients of the HPC Consultancy Team at UIS benefit from accumulated in-house expert knowledge and long-established relationships with vendors. These allow the HPC team to

  • select and configure the most appropriate hardware and software for user requirements
  • reduce acquisition costs for users
  • connect users to additional after-sales support
  • provide integration, support and training by skilled personnel who understand the University environment.

If the new HPC system is installed and subsequently managed by UIS, it is further possible to link it to the larger resources of the central University clusters at times of high demand.

A response to an initial enquiry can be expected within a few days.

Since user requirements vary greatly, and since hardware procurement and installation take time, the lead time for project completion is typically weeks or months.

HPC Consultancy's available service times take place during normal working hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9am – 5pm
Wednesday: 10am  – 5pm
​Friday: 9am – 4.30pm
