Secure, automated off-site data backup for institutions who have an ongoing Institution Support Service (ISS) agreement with University Information Services (UIS).

The Service protects participating institutions against data loss and reduces the administrative burden on researchers and local IT staff. Automated backups are scheduled to suit customer requirements. Off-site storage with large data capacity ensures that important files

  • are stored securely in a separate, independent server location
  • can be retrieved speedily in case data needs to be restored

How Much Does It Cost?

How much does it cost? 

The service cost depends on the amount of space required on the backup server, the backup policy, the rate of data turn-over and how long data will need to be retained. Specific requirements will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. 

The current service fees are: £200/year/1TB backup storage required

How Do I Get This Service?

How do I get this service? 

This requires an ongoing ISS agreement with UIS. Please contact the ISS support service team for more information.

The service is available on a case-by-case basis so delivery lead time may vary according to customer requirements.

Enquiries and requests for backup will be dealt with during normal UIS working hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9am – 5pm
Wednesday: 10am  – 5pm
Friday: 9am – 4.30pm
