The service provides technical input to senior management of University Institutions in the recruitment, retention and appraisal of IT staff, in particular facilitating communication between senior management and IT practitioners.

UIS can provide assistance at all stages of the recruitment cycle from drafting PD33s to shortlisting and interviewing.

For ongoing support, it is also possible to provide staff appraisals in circumstances where the local IT Practioner or line manager does not feel comfortable about conducting them within the existing organisational structure.
