Anti-spam and anti-virus protection for email traffic, provided by the central mail relay* server (also referred to as PPSW).

*If the user has multiple email addresses, the central University relay server will forward these to one single address. Anti-spam and anti-virus protection takes place before the email is forwarded.

Features and Benefits

Features & Benefits
  • spam blocking: mail from possible unsafe parts of the internet is blocked before entering the University
  • spam and virus scanning: messages are scanned for known signatures of spam and viruses and other malicious content
  • rate limiting: the volume of outgoing mail is monitored to detect compromised accounts or computers that may be sending spam without the user's knowledge
  • saves the user the time and effort of having to manage this themselves
  • detects potential problems before they get on the University network, preventing further distribution of malicious content.
